It is a solvent with a medium evaporation rate, It is anhydrous (Urethane Grade) and it has a low toxicity and a pleasant smell vaguely reminiscent of the banana smell. It is used in the paints industry as a solvent for nitrocellulose, alkyd, polyurethane, acrylic, epoxy and polyester resins often as a substitute of the more toxic aromatic solvents. It permits the application of the film-forming coatings in the best conditions of viscosity, wettability and evaporation, ever avoiding the blushing on the film formation.
